Supreme Court Justices and Court of Appeals Judges to Participate in a Live Presentation of North Carolina’s 1868 Constitution

This event is being held to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the 1868 Constitution and the Supreme Court’s bicentennial anniversary.

Justices of the Supreme Court of North Carolina and judges of the North Carolina Court of Appeals will participate in a live presentation sharing the legacy of North Carolina’s 1868 Constitution. This event is being held to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the 1868 Constitution and the Supreme Court’s bicentennial anniversary.

The event will begin with Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Paul Newby and University of North Carolina School of Law Professor John Orth discussing the important legacy of the 1868 Constitution. Following this discussion, Attorney Ann McColl, associate justices of the Supreme Court, and Court of Appeals judges will present “Constitutional Tales,” a live performance that recreates the debates and other important events surrounding the 1868 Constitutional Convention.

The presentation will include members of North Carolina’s appellate judiciary, University of North Carolina School of Law Professor John Orth, and Attorney Ann McColl.
