Supreme Court of North Carolina Names New Clerk of Court

RALEIGH - Chief Justice Mark Martin announced today that J. Bryan Boyd will be appointed as clerk of court for the Supreme Court of North Carolina, effective June 1. He will be the fifteenth clerk for the Supreme Court in Raleigh, replacing the current clerk of court, Christie Roeder, who will retire on May 31.
The duties of the clerk are set forth in the North Carolina General Statutes. Pursuant to statute, Boyd will take the oath of office before entering duties.
Boyd currently is a professor of law with Campbell University, where he has worked since 2003. Most recently, Boyd completed a term as the associate dean for Academic Affairs. He has also served as an assistant professor of legal writing and as the director of the Professional Skills Program at the law school. Prior to joining Campbell, Boyd served as a judicial law clerk to Justice Robert H. Edmunds Jr. at the Supreme Court.
