On February 6, Supreme Court Chief Deputy Marshal Ricky Parks received the 2019 Distinguished Citizen of the Year award from the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce. Parks received this award for his dedication and service to the Rocky Mount community.
Parks worked a combined 28.5 years for the Rocky Mount Police Department and the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, before accepting his current position of Chief Deputy Marshal at the Supreme Court of North Carolina in 2016.
“I cannot explain the tremendous honor it is to receive this award tonight,” Parks said. “The support, the encouragement has been overwhelming — and I am extremely grateful for everyone who has taken the time out to congratulate me.”
Chief Justice Cheri Beasley was the keynote speaker at the ceremony where she congratulated Parks on his award.
“Deputy Marshal Parks is an invaluable member of our Supreme Court family who works every day to make sure that we are all safe and that our courthouse is secure,” Beasley said. “We are so grateful to you, Ricky, for all that you do and just could not be more excited and happy for you tonight as you accept this award.”
