New Business Court Dedication Ceremony to be held Wednesday

A formal dedication of the newest N.C. Business Court at Wake Forest University School of Law.

A formal dedication of the newest North Carolina Business Court, which makes its home in the Wake Forest University School of Law, will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, in the Law Commons of the Worrell Professional Center on the Reynolda Campus.

Attendance at the event is by invitation only. Members of the media interested in covering the event should contact Wake Forest Law Communications Director Lisa Snedeker at snedekll@wfu.edu. The courtroom is located on the west wing of the third floor of the Worrell Professional Center, Room 3205.

The court heard its first case - Vogler Reynolda Road, LLC vs. SCI N.C. Funeral Servs. Inc.; 15 CVS 94 (Forsyth County) - on Tuesday, Jan. 10. It was presided over by Judge James L. Gale from Greensboro.

Judge Michael Robinson, Special Superior Court Judge for Complex Business Cases, presides over cases heard in Winston-Salem. Judge Robinson has a hearing scheduled at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the following case: Miller v. Burlington Chemical Co., LLC;13 CVS 9719 (Guilford County).

Wake Forest Law welcomed the Business Court in January 2017. With the installation of the state's fourth business court, it provides an excellent forum for students to see an actual working court in action as the majority of the hearings are open to the public. The court hears cases, which are assigned by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, involving complex and significant issues of corporate and commercial law. The court also has judges and holds hearings in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh.
