Justice Robert N. Hunter, Jr. to be Installed as 95th Associate Justice of Supreme Court on Friday

Justice Robert N. "Bob" Hunter, Jr. will be installed as the 95th associate justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina on Friday, September 26. The ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in the Supreme Court Courtroom in Raleigh.
Justice Hunter was appointed by Governor McCrory in August to fill the vacancy created when Chief Justice Mark Martin was sworn in to replace Sarah Parker, who retired. Hunter's appointment to the Supreme Court was effective on September 6.
Justice Hunter is a native of Greensboro in Guilford County and attended Page High School. He is a 1969 graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and the UNC School of Law in 1973. In May 2014, he received an LLM Degree in Judicial Studies from Duke University School of law.
After practicing law for more than 35 years, Hunter was elected to the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 2008. He has served as an adjunct professor at the N.C. Central, Elon University, and Wake Forest University law schools. He has also been a deputy attorney general and chairman of the N.C. State Board of Elections. He currently resides with his wife, Susan, in Morehead City.
