The North Carolina Judicial Fellowship and Guilford County court officials have launched a pilot program to assist the district court and pro se (self-represented) litigants with district court matters at the courthouse in Greensboro. Each first Monday and Tuesday of the month are designated as “Pro Se Day,” where two judicial fellows draft orders for the district court judges.
“This new program is helping everyone involved in district court cases,” said Guilford County Chief District Court Judge H. Thomas Jarrell Jr. “Judges are receiving high-quality legal assistance to better serve pro se litigants in court proceedings, which, in turn, provides these litigants speedier justice for their court matters.”
The North Carolina Judicial Fellowship provides independent, confidential and timely legal support for the judges of the district and superior court benches of North Carolina with regard to the matters over which those judges preside. The North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts launched the Fellowship in April 2017 on recommendation of the North Carolina Commission on the Administration of Law and Justice.
