Governor Roy Cooper Names Justice Cheri Beasley the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina
Justice Beasley has served on the North Carolina Supreme Court since 2012.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper named Associate Justice Cheri Beasley as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina. She will become the first African-American female chief justice in the state's history when she assumes her new post in March.
She is a graduate of Douglass College of Rutgers University and of The University of Tennessee College of Law. In 2018, she earned an LL.M. in Judicial Studies from Duke University School of Law.
