Governor Roy Cooper has appointed Judge Donald Cureton Jr. to serve as superior court judge in Mecklenburg County (Judicial District 26). He will fill the vacancy of Judge Casey Viser.

Judge Cureton was elected recently for the seat. He currently serves as a district court judge in Mecklenburg, and previously served as an assistant public defender. He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Winston-Salem State University and his Juris Doctor at Howard University School of Law.
