Chief Justice Martin Appoints Judge James Hill as Chief District Court Judge

Chief Justice Mark Martin has appointed Judge James Hill as chief district court judge for Judicial District 14 (Durham County), effective April 6. Judge Hill replaces Chief Judge Marcia Morey, who has announced her resignation.
"In his fourteen years of distinguished service on the bench, Judge Hill has earned a reputation as an impartial and respected district court judge," said Chief Justice Martin. "The strong support of his colleagues and courthouse staff will serve Judge Hill well in his efforts to ensure that the district courts continue to operate in a fair and efficient manner."
Judge Hill joined the district court bench in 2003 after practicing privately in Durham for 25 years. Judge Hill is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and the Cumberland School of Law.
