Chief Justice Appoints Gary Cash as DRC Commission Chair

Former Buncombe County Chief District Court Judge Gary Cash has been appointed by Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Martin to serve a two-year term as chair of the N.C. Dispute Resolution Commission.
The Commission recommends policy relating to dispute resolution in the state's courts, and is charged with certifying and regulating mediators who provide support for those courts.
Cash served 25 years on the bench before he retired in 2010 and has held several statewide judicial leadership positions. He currently mediates and arbitrates legal matters as a partner with Fisher Stark Cash, Attorneys, in Asheville. Cash graduated from Davidson College in 1971, and was a Rockefeller Fellow to Yale University Divinity School before earning his J.D. degree from the UNC School of Law in 1976.
